On the plane I watched "Me Before You", refused a midnight dinner (I'm sure everyone had already eaten) and with the the help of some medication slept for six hours. This trip I have survived the flights better than any before, while Neil has suffered because of his legs. Oh well, one of us is better than none!
We arrived in Bangkok at 2.30pm to incredible humidity, as we should have expected. We took a train then dragged our bags through the Bangkok chaos for half an hour to the Grand Mercure Asoke. No Airbnbs here, but the hotel was cheap and way bigger than our apartment at home. The air con was welcome.
The girl at reception recommended an authentic Thai restaurant not far from there, but far enough in the heat. So we went there for dinner and while it was interesting and very spicy I would not necessarily do it again. We weren't sure what was food and what was decoration, but it was probably all food. We retired to our gigantic bed at 9.30.
