I was wide awake at 12.30am and last looked at the time at 3. So much for sleeping well. I guess that is also what you expect. It didn't stop us having a big day out though.
We started off by exploring a huge shopping centre just down the road called Terminal 21. From there we caught two trains to the Chao Phraya river which flows through Bangkok, and then got on a boat going up to the Grand Palace. When we arrived at the entrance we met a worker there who changed our plans a bit by circling places we should see on a map and he got a tuk tuk driver who just happened to be there to take us around those places (most of which we had already circled) over the next two to three hours for the equivalent of around $3. We couldn't actually go into the palace because we weren't dressed appropriately.
The ride for me was hair raising, but exciting for Neil. He ended up getting three shirts made at a factory we didn't want to go to but did so to get the driver his fuel bonus. They were to be delivered to our motel the next day.
We also visited Khao San, thanks to Cold Chisel, and saw many enormous buddhas.
Around five we found our way back to the motel and then out to dinner to an English pub called The Crossbar. Much more enjoyable than the night before. I was still wide awake at 2am so watched a silly splatter movie called "Home Sweet Hell"with Catherine Heigl and John Belushi.
