Day 60, Venice

We walked to the beach one last time and then had our favourite, a Maccas breakfast. After returning to the hotel we checked out and walked up to the train station to catch the train to Venice, via Milan.
Again the trip was comfortable and really uneventful, but there were a few anxious moments when we had only five minutes to change trains at Milan - a very big station.  Fortunately I had studied the station plan and read traveller posts to know what colour train to find in the row of parked engines.
We arrived in Venice around 10pm and then waited not long for a vaporetto to pull up at the wharf and take us to Lido Island. (The vaporettos do not have the class of Brisbane's Citycats, but when in Venice ...)
Lido Island, where I had booked the motel because it was cheaper than the main island, was a welcome sight.  It is modern and clean, and the walk to the hotel was easy.  On the way we noticed an ice cream shop still open, and when we could find nothing we liked in the mini bar (apart from the wine) we walked back and had ice cream for tea at 11 pm. Buonissimo!
