After going for a walk around the St Remy markets, we left Louise and Stephane for the next part of our adventure. We caught a train into Montparnasse and from there another one to Angouleme. There we hopped on a very basic, hot local train to Chalais, where we were to stay the night. On that train we met an English girl called Natalie, who just so happened to be going to volunteer in Brossac as we were. Somehow we got the wrong information and ended up booking a motel in Chalais, when we could have gone all the way to Brossac with Natalie and Paul, the manager, who was there to pick her up from the station. Instead he dropped us at our motel and we arranged to meet up the next morning, when he would take us to a market at St Quentin nearby.
The motel, Maison Charles Maurice, was a heritage style building and we virtually had the run of it as the managers lived off-site. At tea-time we walked around the town and found a bar/restaurant called Le Fore, which did us nicely.
