Day 26, Bournemouth

We walked down the hill a bit from the motel to watch one of the air show events, and then again at 3.15.  The latter was the Red Arrows performance, which was amazing.
We had an earlyish tea at a surfie-style restaurant called Hot Rocks and I took advantage of the mussels on the menu. We then walked to where we thought the Royal Marines Band concert was going to be.  However it was not at the main beach but at Boscombe, a rather long walk along the shoreline to the next pier.  After whinging and complaining about the bad advertising we were well rewarded by an amazing night listening to an incredible band. Their version of Led Zeppelin's Caravan, as well as various Pink Floyd and Dusty Springfield numbers, was for me a highlight of the trip.  There were also illuminated planes flying overhead, which added to the allover enjoyment of the evening. Another exciting thing was the fact that the tide started coming in half way through the show and Neil and another guy set about digging a trench to divert the water away from us sitting on the sand.  What heroes!
We walked back at 11pm, just as the carnival rides and food places were closing up, in a much better frame of mind than earlier!
