As arranged in Frankfurt, we took the bus to Camden Lock to meet up with my friend Diana and, as it turned out, her sister Claire. Diana and I went through university together and we have met up in New Zealand over the years, but I hadn't seen Claire since their double wedding in Rotorua in the 70s! Neither of them has changed much at all, and we all found it a bit gob-smacking to realise that we are the age we are - travel must be the answer, so there should be more of it.
The restaurant we chose was a pan-asian place called Gilgamesh. Beautiful food and of course NZ Sauvignon Blanc. All too soon they had to go, and in fact were following a similar route to us over the next few weeks.
We walked from there to Kentish Town to the Bull and Gate, our old family pub where I first met my Canadian cousin Dan five years ago. We made a booking for the following Sunday to meet up. The barman was stoked to hear that our Greenwood family used to own the pub in the 1700s, saying that that was cooler than him playing in a band there now. Cute.
On the way back to the apartment we shopped at Sainsburys and cooked spag bol for tea.
