Day 63, Vienna

Up at 6am was a bit of a shock to the system, but we had to get a cab to the car ferry by 7.30 to make it to Tronchetto Island.  Tronchetto is the only place where you can park a car or catch a bus in Venice.  From here we were getting a Flixbus to Vienna.  It was sad to say goodbye to our beautiful hotel, but with only a week to go we had to get moving.  I also had made contact with cousin Adele, who just so happened to be in Vienna on one of her overseas excursions, so we arranged to meet up there.
The car ferry trip went smoothly, as did the bus trip.  Front row seats again :)  We followed the coast and passed through Trieste, which looked beautiful, and also Slovenia, which I would love to revisit one day.  We arrived in Vienna around 6.30pm which was pretty good, and we had enough light to work out the U-Bahn and catch the tram to Landstrasse and then Spittelau, which is where our hotel was.
This hotel didn't disappoint.  Another quirky place, and just around the corner was a traditional Austrian restaurant where we had tea.  A big day, but good.
