Day 32, Delph

After relaxing for a while we went for a walk for about two miles, to a nearby village called Uppermill.  It was a nice walk, following the stream.  We relaxed again in the afternoon until it was time to find some tea, this time at a local Indian restaurant called The Bayleaf.  I had a yummy salmon curry, but Neil wasn't overly fussed about the ocra that came with his meal.
The evening brought the high point of our stay in Delph, and that was Neil taking part in the rehearsal of the Delph Band, almost next door to where we were staying.  Neil organised it by email before we got there, and Anne and Phil have ties with the bands in the area through their daughter who plays, so it was an easy goal to achieve.
The conductor of the Delph band is Phil Goodwin, a long term Black Dyke  (featuring in the movie Brassed Off) band member. That was pretty impressive, and I think Neil felt quite privileged to have played with them, even if only for a couple of hours. Anne and Phil also organised for him to attend the Boarshurst Band practice at Greenfields the next night.
